Walter Beach Named Chair of SAE Committees

Peening Technologies of Connecticut’s Vice President, Walter A. Beach, has been named Chairperson of the SAE Surface Enhancement Committee and the Aerospace Surface Enhancement Committee.  He succeeds Jack Champaigne of Electronics, Inc., in both roles.

This committee has long played a vital part in advancing the science and practice of surface enhancement through technical collaboration and innovation. “I am honored to work with this group of talented professionals who have come together to pursue one goal – the continual improvement of the shot peening process,” said Beach.

His involvement with both SAE International and Nadcap goes back to the early 2000s — first by helping to develop the original Nadcap checklists for AC7117, /1, /2, and /5, and later by joining the SAE Surface Enhancement Committee and the subsequently formed Aerospace Surface Enhancement Committee (ASEC). Over the years, he has sponsored several important document revisions, including AMS2430, AMS2432, and ARP7488.

“I would also like to offer a heartfelt thank you to Jack Champaigne of Electronics, Inc., for his decades of dedicated leadership,” Beach added.  “Jack’s stewardship has brought together people and companies from all over the world with a shared purpose — to continually improve the shot peening process. His tireless work has set the foundation for the collaborative, technically rigorous community we’re all proud to be part of.” l
